General Information
The compressor is the most important part of vapor compression refrigeration systems The compressor’s job is to continuously take the refrigerant vapor generated in the evaporator compress it to high pressure and take it into the condenser. The refrigeration compressor needs to have a large suction capacity to maintain the required evaporation pressure p0 (corresponding to the evaporation temperature t0) in the evaporator and have a discharge pressure large enough to ensure the required pressure in the condenser is high, corresponding to the existing cooling medium temperature.
The refrigeration compressor is important, on the one hand, because of its function in the system, on the other hand, because it consists of many complex moving parts, so the quality, reliability, and refrigeration capacity of the system mainly depend on the quality, reliability, and productivity of refrigeration compressors.
In refrigeration engineering general and in cold storage in particular, people often use almost all types of compressors with different working principles, but the most commonly used compressors are air compressors. Reciprocating compressors, screws compressors, scroll compressors, and rotor compressors work on the principle of volumetric compression, and turbine compressors work on the principle of kinetics.
