Why the project runs NH3 and R404a side by side
The Agrex Saigon plant runs two refrigerants for two different load groups:
- NH3 for the large cooling loads: the 1,000-pallet cold store and the central refrigeration system. Highest efficiency and lowest operating cost at this scale.
- R404a for the standalone units such as the flake ice machines and some upgraded lines, where adding a branch to the central NH3 system is not economical.
Splitting it this way lets the owner upgrade one area at a time without shutting down the whole plant — which is why the project was delivered in 05 consecutive phases.
